400 kWp Solar rooftop and Building Integrated PV for University of Stratford, London
The Challenge
The Plugyy team was asked to provide a turnkey solution (design, supply and install) for as large as possible Solar PV system to be incorporated at University Square, Stratford Island in London, under a strict budget figure, to maximise the area available on the building.
Our Solution
Prior to installation, the team carried out the initial system design, specification and calculations using industry standard software tool PVSol to enable the client to review the operations of the system and expected yields. High efficiency black collectors were selected for mounting on the building’s roof tops and facades (Building Integrated PV), offering enhanced aesthetics and an improved energy yield. Then, a total of 400 kWp solar system was installed and commissioned in just over 12 weeks.
Result
An efficient PV system fully designed, installed and commissioned on time and budget, providing enhanced energy yield beyond the initial expectations of the project, thanks to the use of high efficiency modules and the Building Integrated PV providing an enhanced visual appearance and statement to the building.
The Challenge
With a forward-looking vision, T Wall Garages car dealership is committed to implementing sustainable practices within the automotive industry. Their decision to invest in Solar PV was driven by the need to reduce costs, reduce carbon footprint and hedge against increasing and fluctuating energy prices.
Our Solution
Plugyy’s expertise, credentials and experience in supporting and implementing renewable energy and EV Solutions for companies in the automotive sector led to us securing the contract to install and operate the c.50 kWp solar PV system at their dealership in the West Midlands. The system was designed and optimised to meet the dealership's and its service centre’s energy requirements, maximise cost savings and environmental benefit. The project was carried out so that the site could remain fully operational at all times, with safe access to the public and minimal disruption to the business’ operation.
Result
The fully operational solar system is projected to generate over 36,000 kWh of green electricity annually for at least 25 years and is operated and monitored 24/7 by Plugyy. The green renewable energy is consumed mostly on-site and reduces imported energy, providing significant cost savings for the business and environmental benefits, with a very short payback period. The successful project is now being used as a template for further projects across the dealer groups portfolio, in addition to EV charging infrastructure upgrades. By partnering with Plugyy, this dealership has positioned itself at the forefront of the sector’s sustainability efforts and set a benchmark for operational efficiency and energy cost control.

Solar portfolio O&M for PDSA Pet Hospitals Portfolio
The Challenge
PDSA Pet Hospitals identified that the solar installations across their UK portfolio of hospital buildings had not been operating in accordance with expectations. The solar systems varied in size and installation quality.
They commissioned our team to carry out a full audit of their solar portfolio, followed by ongoing Operation & Maintenance to ensure that the assets were generating at optimal yield.
Our Solution
Our team first carried out an audit of the various sites, followed by full systems servicing as required from the audits. This was followed by a contract for full O&M including remote monitoring for each of the PDSA sites. The team’s work included the following:
• Identify potential solutions to optimise the various solar sites.
• Identify fire safety issues and non-compliance to both MCS and Electrical Standards, remediating as necessary.
• Installing remote monitoring solutions where these were not present.
Result
Our team were able to offer a long-term O&M professional service to ensure that the sites operate efficiently, providing optimal yield and reduced downtime across the portfolio, all measured against agreed KPIs with PDSA, managing to increase the yields across the portfolio by c. 20%.
The Challenge
The project owners wanted to develop and test the concept of combining solar energy with Bi-directional EV charging (Vehicle to Grid - V2G) to optimise energy consumption. To do this, they looked to install solar carports with EV charging at Norton Way Nissan in Letchworth.
Our Solution
The Plugyy team played a pivotal role acting as Lead Project Advisor & Manager for the development, delivery and operation & Management of this project. Following market research and conceptual design and sizing of the project, the team led the procurement process to select all the hardware, software and installation contractor and then managed and supervised the installation process.
Result
A fully operational project comprising of:
• c. 50 kWp on on a solar carport and rooftop
• 2 X 50kW V2G EV chargepoints
• Smart optimisation of the site building’s energy consumption using an AI based energy management tool, optimising the V2G chargers with the solar PV generation to reduce the site’s power intake

EV Charging Infrastructure Supply & Installation for Carpark in Central London
The Challenge
The Velani Corporation is engaged in residential & commercial property management and development and international investment in the healthcare and technology sectors. For one of its buildings in central London, the company required a complete end to end service for enabling EV charging options for the building’s residents and commercial units.
Our Solution
Following initial advisory work for the client, the Plugyy team delivered a turnkey solution inc. procurement, design & installation (EPC) of all associated electrical infrastructure & cabling for 24 EV charge points.
Result
24 locations for EV charge points with all required isolators, protection and communications infrastructure fully ready for rollout of the chargers. Plugyy continues to support Velani Corporation as it assesses EV charging options across its portfolio.
The Challenge
A Combined Authority in the north of England was looking at options for solar energy at an International Airport they control, for self-consumption and export. They required assistance in understanding the potential feasible sizing, accounting for technical limitations, existing electricity demand on site, grid limitations and future plans for EV Charging and development of the airport.
Our Solution
Following a competitive procurement process, Plugyy was selected as the lead technical advisor on the project. We carried site visits and undertook analysis to identify the optimal size and layout for solar PV generation combined with battery storage, considering technical/commercial/financial/procurement aspects, analysing generation vs. consumption past and future and went beyond the original scope to assess and suggest options for EV charging and solar carport infrastructure on site.
Result
A full project design and sizing for solar energy on site with a recommended phased delivery plan, based on present demand and future infrastructure plans and grid export limitations, along with battery storage options for generation time shifting.

Net Zero Partnership Strategy & Procurement for Coventry City Council
The Challenge
Coventry City Council (CCC) was looking at optimal ways to deliver on its Net Zero ambitions to de-carbonise the city, via partnership with industry companies, who would have the technical, commercial and funding capabilities and experience to deliver a wide net zero strategy and multiple projects, whilst creating social value for the city residents.
Our Solution
Working with the council’s small energy team and their professional advisors, we planned, set up and led work to deliver the council’s ambition. Detailed work was carried out to define the vision, objectives and outcomes, the scope and strategies for the procurement and align all relevant internal stakeholders with these. Plugyy leveraged its team’s significant experience from leading a large bid in Bristol Leap - an extensive procurement process for a 20 year concession to become Bristol Council’s strategic partner to decarbonise the city.
Result
An efficient and compliant procurement process, designed with ambitious but realistic and well balanced vision, goals and desired outcomes, to ensure it is beneficial for the city yet also attractive for industry to bid.
In Q4 2022 CCC went out to the market to procure an energy partnership. In Sept. 2023 Coventry City Council and E.ON announced a 15 year strategic enenrgy partnership.
